For 12 years, Bartavelle has been more than just a popular Berkeley spot—it's been a cherished institution in our community. We've known Suzanne and Sam, the heart and soul of Bartavelle, for years, and it's devastating to learn of their current struggles.
Suzanne and Sam have always embodied the best of East Bay's independent food scene. Their commitment to craft food, seasonal ingredients, and fair treatment of staff sets a standard we all aspire to.
After a challenging summer, Bartavelle is facing closure. We see this as a wake-up call to support our favorite local restaurants, especially those operating with the community in mind. In response, over 50 local businesses are organizing a fundraising event. Good To Eat will be there serving hot food alongside other local vendors. The evening will feature diverse food and drink options, a raffle, silent auction, and DJ sets. It's an opportunity to enjoy great company while supporting a local treasure that has given so much to our community.
